MANUFUTURE Germany
At a glance
MANUFUTURE Germany is a German initiative forming part of the overall project of MANUFUTURE Europe. The main objectives behind this national initiative are as follows:
Defining and ranking the research interests of German manufacturing companies using roadmapping techniques
Integrating the identified interests of the companies into the 7th Research Framework Programme of the EU
Ensuring the practical and industry-relevant promotion of research
Building networks between industry, science, associations, and politics for efficient research alliances among German companies
The future of manufacturing technology is called MANUFUTURE
Industry, science and politics are collaborating to change the structure of the European manufacturing industry. Their primary objectives are sustainable growth as well as ensuring prosperity and social standards. Our vision is to foster the transition from an industrial society to a knowledge economy based on research and innovationdriven industries.
A European approach for a knowledge-based economy requires concrete steps in research and the rapid application of measures that accomplish more, improved and sustained employment. It is the task of the MANUFUTURE platforms to team up with industry and identify and rank the relevant research activities. The results from the national initiatives from 27 countries will be included in the Strategic Research Agenda for European industries. This Strategic Research Roadmap is the basis for selecting the main research activities to be embedded in the 7th Research Framework Program of the EU (2007 to 2013).
